Our work here is  varied depending on the cause of the degradation. Our agricultural history and the desire for drying land for productive uses has depleted our wetland habitats. Ditches and man-made streams all over our landscape drying out what was once rich biodiverse wet grasslands, heaths and mires. This practice is still used by private landowners too, thinking it would be better to not just put a pair of wellies on! Likewise neglecting wetlands whilst their is a lack of grazing causes them to scrub over. Molinia habitats lost to willow and gorse scrub.
